Although the San Isidro de Periana olive oil cooperative was officially established in 1982, it originated from the merger of 18 old mills that existed in the 1960s. At that time, three affiliated cooperatives were formed: Mondrón, San Isidro and Nuestra Señora del Pilar. It was precisely from the merger of the latter two that the history of our beloved San Isidro cooperative began; on its façade, you can see the cross dedicated to the patron saint.
Our brand – Aceite Verdial de Periana – highlights the typical characteristics of the Verdial variety of our olives, grown in the unique climate of the Periana region, the capital of Alta Axarquía, situated 23 km north of Vélez-Málaga.
This brand is the pride of more than 800 families who care for and nurture over 300,000 centuries-old olive trees; together with the selection of their fruit and the production process, this yields one of the finest virgin olive oils in the province of Málaga.
